04.06.2021

PJSC Rosseti, State Corporation Rosatom and PJSC KAMAZ have signed a trilateral agreement on implementation of the joint project - the development of a comprehensive solution for Russian regions and municipalities for electric transport, charging infrastructure, and maintenance thereof at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The initiative is aimed at expanding the use of environmentally friendly transport within the Russian Federation.

A special project team will be formed to coordinate the work of the participants. On the part of Rosatom, the developer and manufacturer of Russian batteries for electric transport - RENERA, LLC ('TVEL' company of Rosatom Fuel Company) - an integrator of the nuclear industry in the field of energy storage systems will be responsible for the task.

'Environmentally friendly transport plays an important role in creating a comfortable urban environment. For Rosseti, this means new challenges and opportunities related to the development of the charging infrastructure. We are actively cooperating with Moscow, and in 2020 alone, we opened more than 50 ultra-fast charging stations for electric buses in the capital. We hope that the agreement signed today with the leaders in the production of electric vehicles and their components will allow us to scale this experience,' Konstantin Mikhailik, Deputy Director General for Digital Transformation of PJSC Rosseti said.

'Rosatom is consistently engaged in the creation of high-tech industries in Russia improving the quality of people's lives, both independently and in cooperation with the market leaders. The transition to electric transport is an obvious global trend, and combining our efforts is an important step towards the development of the national industry. This is a large and promising market, where it is important to make the transition to environmentally friendly equipment convenient and accessible for all regions of Russia,' Kirill Komarov, First Deputy Director General - Director of the Development and International Business Unit of Rosatom State Corporation said.

'KAMAZ has scientific and technical competencies and successful experience in the development and production of electric vehicles, and operation and maintenance thereof. The production of electric vehicles with a wide range of models is one of the strategic directions of the company's development, and we are looking forward to join forces with the technology leaders. Our common goal is to expand the use of environmentally friendly transport in the country: the production of electric vehicles of various classes, as well as the establishment of a convenient and affordable charging infrastructure for these cars. I am positive that the joint work on a long-term and stable basis will soon yield significant results,' Rustam Shamsutdinov, Deputy Director General for Sales and Service of KAMAZ commented.

The parties are interested in the development and strengthening a long-term and stable cooperation and are planning to join efforts to expand the use of electric transport in the Russian Federation, including in order to reduce the negative transport impact on the environment.
