Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK attended the Korea-ASEAN RCEP Forum organized by Korea JoongAng Daily

On 24 May 2022, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, together with other ASEAN ambassadors to the ROK, attended the Korea-ASEAN RCEP Forum organized by the Korea JoongAng Daily as a platform for exchanging views on advantages of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or RCEP, and regional economic trends after the Agreement enters into force. At the Forum, Mr. Chun Yoon-jong, Director-General of FTA Negotiations under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy delivered a keynote speech, followed by a panel discussion among ambassadors/representatives from ASEAN countries. Thailand's Ambassador highlighted 4 key advantages of RCEP that could offer new trade opportunities between Thailand and the ROK, namely (1) customs duty reduction which will benefit almost 40,000 goods items from Thailand, (2) simplified customs clearance procedures, (3) facilitation of trade in services, and (4) unified/cumulative rules of origin.
