Five Players Qualify for U.S. Senior Amateur Championships

Five players advanced to play in their respective 2019 national championships as the Oregon Golf Association administered 2019 U.S. Senior Amateur and U.S. Senior Women's Amateur qualifiers Tuesday, July 23 at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn.

Leslie Folsom (Tukwila, Wash.), Anita Wicks (Roseburg) and Lisa Poritz (Portland) each qualified for the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur Championship scheduled for Aug. 25-29 at Cedar Rapids Country Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Folsom took medalist honors with a 3-over par 75. Wicks and Poritz finished at 5- and 7-over par respectively.

On the senior men's side it was Greg Sanders (Anchorage, Alaska) and Bradley Karns (Vancouver, Wash.) who qualified for the national championship proper, which is scheduled for Aug. 25-29 at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, N.C.

Sanders carded a 6-under par 66, a round made up of six birdies and 12 pars, on his way to medalist honors. Karns shot 4-under, complete with five birdies and one bogey.
