Nobina awarded renewed contracts in Trollhättan and Vänersborg

Nobina's contracts to operate public transport services in Vänersborg, Trollhättan and Lilla Edet have been renewed. The combined value of the two contracts is just over SEK 1.7 billion over the contract period. The combined contracts encompass approximately 65 scheduled electric and biogas buses, and services will begin operating in December 2022.

Västtrafik has decided to renew Nobina's contracts to operate public transport services in Vänersborg, Trollhättan and Lilla Edet, within the framework of two different traffic contracts.

One of the contracts involves about 45 scheduled buses, with city transport in Trollhättan, and rural traffic services between Trollhättan-Lilla Edet, Trollhättan-Älvängen and Trollhättan-Nossebro, which are services already operated by Nobina. The city transport contract will encompass 100-percent electric buses, while 100 percent of the rural services will be provided by buses operated on biogas.

The second contract encompasses approximately 20 scheduled buses, with city transport in Vänersborg, and rural traffic services between Vänersborg-Trollhättan. Nobina also already operates these services.

The contract encompasses 100-percent electric buses in city transport, and close to 100 percent of the buses in rural services will operate on biogas.

The contract period for both traffic agreements is ten years, starting in December 2022.

'I am delighted that we can continue our journey and the transformation of public transport services together with Västtrafik, and about how we are now taking the next step towards realising ambitious environmental goals at the same time as we are creating even better public transport. Together, we will now be able to provide our passengers with secure, welcoming and long-term sustainable travel,' says Henrik Dagnäs, Managing Director, Nobina Sweden.

The award decision can be appealed until 14 June 2021.
