SELLOUTS: Big Oil Darlings Michelle Steel and Young Kim Appease Polluter Donors At AAPI Communities’ Expense

Yesterday, members of Orange County's AAPI communities protested the GOP's Little Saigon office. They called for a ban on the offshore oil drilling endangering the economic, environmental, and public health of Southern California.

Yet Michelle Steel and Young Kim are in the midst of a campaign to appease the Big Oil donors financing their political careers. It's been three weeks since oil from an offshore drilling pipeline began poisoning Orange County's beaches.

Despite reporter questions and Orange County residents' repeated demands for an offshore oil drilling ban, Steel and Kim refuse to put their constituents first. The money may be good, but the voters aren't stupid.

Asian Americans in Action's Patty Yoo spoke at the protest:

"While Orange County's AAPI communities suffer the consequences of the massive oil spill that hit our beaches, Michelle Steel and Young Kim continue to put their corporate polluter donors first. Steel and Kim promised to be our voices in Congress, instead they are doing the bidding of Big Oil at the expense of AAPI communities."
