Homicide Unit detectives this evening charged Christopher J. Fields, 25, with criminal homicide for the October 10, 2020, murder of Jajuan Clark, 36, in the 5200 block of Hickory Hollow Parkway near the Global Mall.
Fields is alleged to have fatally shot Clark, who was homeless, in a random act of violence. A motorist called police at 8 p.m. on the day of murder after driving up on Clark in the roadway. He had been shot multiple times.
Today, South Precinct officers were called to Fields' Hickory Hollow Parkway residence by a relative due to threatening behavior. While interacting with the officers, Fields admitted to killing Clark. In a subsequent interview with Detective Trevor Vondohlen, Fields provided detail about the gun he used along with additional information that matched evidence from the murder scene.
Fields is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
