The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, during the NATO summit in Madrid, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Pekka Haavisto.

Minister Xhaçka expressed Albania's support for Finland's membership in NATO.

"We welcome the successful agreement between Turkey, Finland and Sweden that paves the way for the two countries to join the alliance. Stronger together", said Minister Xhaçka via social networks after the meeting.

In the first working session at Madrid Summit, NATO leaders took far-reaching decisions to continue adaptation of the Alliance to risks.

NATO leaders adopted the new NATO Strategic Concept and agreed on a "fundamental shift in deterrence and defence of people ", through the support of increased investments in defence and co-financing, as well as decided for more support for Ukraine in a longer-term period.

A historic decision by NATO leaders is also the invitation of Finland and Sweden to join the alliance.
