The dual started with an exciting first-period pin for over No. 8 Alex Mackell. In their last meeting, Mackall earned a technical fall over Schwarm, but this time, the Panther wrestler turned the tables. He picked up an early takedown before Mackall earned a reversal. Schwarm returned the reversal and finished off the bout with a pin just 2:17 into the bout.
Schwarm is once again tied for the lead in the NCAA with 13 DI falls so far this season.
Iowa State won decisions at 133 and 141 to tie the team score at 6-6 in a pair of hard-fought bouts.
UNI responded with a 3-1 sudden victory win for at 149 over No. 8 Jarrett Degen. The wrestlers both earned escapes. Early in the SV period, Thomsen grabbed a double-leg and earned a takedown to put UNI up 9-6 on the team score.
extended the Panther lead to 12-6 with a 5-3 win at 157 which included a takedown, two escapes and a riding time point.

Joel Shapiro topped 6-2 and fell to Gannon Gremmel 4-0 to push the Cyclones over the top for the two-point win.
The Panthers are fall to 7-4 overall and 6-2 in Big 12 wrestling action.
The Panthers have one road dual remaining in the regular season, next Thursday at No. 12 Wisconsin.
