Do Tony Gonzales and Beth Van Duyne Want “18 Months of Chaos” and “Inability to Get Stuff Done” in Congress?

Fellow Texas Republican Chip Roy caught pledging to vote against everything in the House and 'slow all of that down' until 2022

Texas Republican Chip Roy said the quiet part out loud this week when he was caught on video pledging to vote against all legislation in the House until December 2022, saying, 'Thank you Lord - 18 more months of chaos and the inability to get stuff done.'

The question is: Do vulnerable Republicans Tony Gonzales and Beth Van Duyne agree with their fellow Texas member of Congress that their job is to do 'everything [they] can to slow all of that down'?

As one of their first significant votes in Congress, both Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) voted against urgently-needed pandemic relief for small businesses, veterans, and working families in the popular American Rescue Plan. Now, it appears Texas Republicans are prepared to continue their playbook of voting against common-sense legislation - even if it would help their constituents back home.

'Both Tony Gonzales and Beth Van Duyne are too busy eagerly auditioning to be part of the Gridlock Caucus to deliver meaningful results for their constituents,' said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. 'Texans deserve better than two empty suits who put politics over people and vote 'no' against bill after bill. Will Tony Gonzales and Beth Van Duyne denounce their party's obstructionist agenda?'
