Caithfear machnamh a dhéanamh ar an sean-ospidéal sa Daingean le húsáid mar Mhol Nuálaíochta d’fhiontraitheoirí áitiúla – Brassil

Bhí Teachta Dála Fianna Fáil ar son dáilcheantar Chiarraí, John Brassil ag gríosaigh an Roinn Gnó, Fiontar agus Nuálaíochta agus an Roinn Sláinte le smaoinigh ar an sean otharlann san Daingin mar Mhol Nuálaíocht indéanta chun tacaíocht a tabhairt le fóstaíocht na háite.

'Bhí sé tamall ón ám a bhí an otharlann in úsaid, agus tá sé go mór i mbeal an phobal go bhfuil daoine neamhcinnte agus iad ag smaoinigh níl sé sna pleananna Rialtas chun an otharlann a úsaid sa thodchaí.

'Is é seo áit den scoth le bunaigh Croílár Nuálaíocht le tacaíocht a tabhairt le fiontraíochtaí aítiúil, agus ar deireadh thiar, le cruthaigh fóstaíocht le pá maith, atá de dhith go gear.

'Scríobh mé chuig na t-Aire atá i gceist ar lorg a dehearcadh ar an smaoinigh. Tá sé tábhachtach go mbeadh sé in úsaid ar aís.

'Tá an cuibhreannas áitiúil, Molteic ag lorg an foirgneamh agus na talamh le bheith d'aistrigh chuig Udaras na Gaeltachta, agus mar gheall ar sin bheadh an Údarás agus Comhairle Chontae Ciarraí ábalta obair lena chéile leis an Mol Nuálaíocht a fháil.

'Tá 371 daoine go fóill ar an Clár Beo i gceantar Daingin, is é sin ach páirt den cohórt de 8,058 daoine ar fud na Tíre.

'Caithfidh muid tacaíocht a thabhairt do na daoine aítiúila le a comhlachtaí féin a bhunaigh, agus thig le Mol Nuálaíocht bheith mar shlí isteach le seirbhíse agus comhairle, gan caiteachas mór i gcaipiteal.

'Tá mé ag dúil le eisteacht ón dhá Roinn faoi bpleananna ar bith, faoin shean-otharlann.

'Is é seo deis ar leith le tacaíocht a thabhairt don pobal aítiúil le cruthaigh fóstaíocht le pá maith. Ní bheith an bua ag gach fiontraíocht ach, muna gcuirimid an tacaíocht le smaoineamh agus cruthaitheacht na fiontraí na háite, beidh an bua agus an deis le bheith faoi bhláth ag níos lú fiontraíocht,' a chríochnaigh Brassil.

Old Hospital in Dingle must be considered for use as Innovation Hub for local enterprises - Brassil

Kerry Fianna Fáil TD, John Brassil has urged the Departments of Health and Business, Enterprise and Innovation to consider the Old Hospital in Dingle as a possible Innovation Hub to support local employment.

'The Old Hospital has been lying idle for some time, and there is a growing uncertainty among the community that the Government have no plans for its future use.

'This is a prime location in which to establish an Innovation Hub to support local enterprise, and ultimately create much needed well-paying employment.

'I have written to both Ministers seeking their views on this idea. It's important that the building starts being used again.

'There is a very organised local consortium, Molteic who want the building and lands transferred to Údarás na Gaeltachta so that they, Údarás and Kerry County Council can work together to deliver this Innovation Hub.

'There are still 371 people on the Live Register in the Dingle area, part of a much larger cohort of 8,058 in the entire county.

'We need to be supporting local people to establish their own businesses, and an Innovation Hub could allow them access services and advice without the major initial outlay of capital.

'I look forward to hearing from both departments on their plans, if any, for the Old Hospital.

'This is a unique opportunity to support the local community to create well-paying local jobs. Not every enterprise will succeed, but unless we put in place to support the ideas and creativity of our local entrepreneurs, even fewer will success and prosper,' concluded Brassil.
