Chairman Meeks Announces June HFAC Schedule

Washington, D.C. - Today, Representative Gregory W. Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced the following schedule for the month of June.

Events that are not closed to the public will be accessible via the Committee's website and YouTube page. All Committee events are subject to change at any time due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • June 7 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a virtual hearing entitled, 'The State Department's Foreign Policy Strategy and FY22 Budget Request.'
  • June 8 at 1:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a briefing hearing entitled, 'Global Refugee Trends & the COVID-19 Response.' Closed to the public.
  • June 9 at 11:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, The Pacific, Central Asia, and Nonproliferation will convene its members for a virtual hearing entitled, 'Democratic Values in the Indo-Pacific in an Era of Strategic Cooperation.'
  • June 9 at 3:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on International Development, International Organizations, and Global Corporate Social Impact will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, 'United States Leadership in the International Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.'
  • June 10 at 11:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber will convene its members for a virtual hearing entitled, 'Protecting the Rights of LGBTQI+ Communities in Europe & Eurasia.'
  • June 15 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a markup of H.R. 3524, the Ensuring American Global Leadership and Engagement (EAGLE) Act.
  • June 16 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a hybrid hearing entitled, 'The Biden Administration's Priorities for Engagement with the United Nations.'
  • June 17 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a briefing on Ethiopia. Closed to the public.
  • June 23 at 11:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Middle East, North Africa and Global Counterterrorism will convene its members for a hearing entitled, 'COVID-19 in the MENA Region: Addressing the Impacts of the Pandemic and the Road to Recovery.'
  • June 23 at 3:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, Civilian Security, Migration and International Economic Policy will convene its members for a hybrid hearing entitled, 'The Biden Administration's Efforts to Deepen U.S. Engagement in the Caribbean.'
  • June 24 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber will convene its members for a virtual hearing entitled, 'NATO 2030: A Celebration of Origins and an Eye Toward the Future.'
  • June 24 at 1:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a hybrid hearing entitled, 'Advancing and Protecting LGBTQI+ Rights Abroad.'
  • June 29 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for hybrid hearing entitled 'The Conflict in Ethiopia.'
  • June 29 at 3:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber will convene its members for a virtual briefing entitled, 'No Global Citizen Left Behind: Opportunities and Challenges of a Just Transition.'
  • June 30 at 11:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, The Pacific, Central Asia, and Nonproliferation will convene its members for a briefing entitled, 'Scenarios in a Cross-Strait Conflict.' Closed to the public.
