City Council Seeks Applicants for Vacant Kempsville District Seat

Qualified residents of the Kempsville district are invited to apply to be considered to fill the Kempsville District representative vacancy on the Virginia Beach City Council. All applications must be submitted by noon on August 2, 2021. Visit https://www.vbgov.com/HotTopics for information and forms.

Candidates must reside in the Kempsville District and be a registered voter to be eligible for this appointment. The citizen appointment by the City Council will hold office until the qualified voters fill the vacancy by special election and the person so elected has qualified to serve.

Completed applications must include a letter of interest, the applicant's resume or curriculum vitae (CV), and a Statement of Economic Interests. City Council will review applications in closed session on August 3. Public interviews will be conducted during a special session on August 10. Immediately following, City Council will deliberate and then vote to select an appointee.

The Kempsville District vacancy is the result of the resignation of Jessica Abbott.
