ABA President Patricia Lee Refo submits congressional testimony supporting LSC funding

WASHINGTON, April 30, 2021 - American Bar Association President Patricia Lee Refo submitted official testimony to the leaders of the Senate and House subcommittees on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies supporting increased Fiscal Year 2022 funding for the Legal Services Corporation, in addition to $350 million-$500 million of emergency funding that s necessary due to the impact of the pandemic. The Legal Services Corporation funds legal aid grantees that provide services benefiting more than 1.8 million low-income Americans in every state and territory throughout the country. Legal aid grantees offer advice on family law, housing, consumer, employment, and other civil legal issues in both federal and state cases.
