JULY 4th FIREWORKS SHOW POSTPONED...

Due to the exceptional drought conditions and critical fire danger the City of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County continue to experience, the July 4th Fireworks Show has been postponed.

In addition to the drought conditions, staffing issues also played a role in the decision to postpone the event. Firefighters who would need to be on standby for the event would very likely be pulled away from their standby posts to answer other calls. "In addition to the drought and critical fire danger, we do not have enough manpower to ensure the safe deployment of fireworks due to increased Fire/EMS calls. Fire/EMS staff and volunteers are unable to commit to remain stationary at the park," stated City of Fredericksburg Fire Marshal, Reagan Rabke.

While the sale of fireworks is permitted in Gillespie County, Fredericksburg Fire EMS, as well as the rural county fire departments are concerned about the increased call volume they anticipate as the current burn ban does not prohibit fireworks.

According to Special Events Coordinator and Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, Jennifer Krupa, "The fireworks show will be rescheduled within a six-month time frame. We are hopeful that we will receive some much-needed rainfall that will make conditions less hazardous for an amazing fireworks show."

For those RV Camping in Lady Bird Johnson Municipal RV Park for the July 4th Fireworks Event, the cancellation policy for the RV Park is in effect.

• Full Reservation Cancellations: Cancellations made 4 days prior to arrival date will receive a full refund minus the reservation fee of $7.00 and cancellation fee of $3.50. Cancellations made within less than 4 days of arrival date will be charged one daily rate fee plus the cancellation fee and the reservation fee. Cancellations can be made online or by calling our office. For reservations paid via cash or check, refunds will be mailed in the form of a check within 30 days.
• Early Departure Cancellations: Cancellations made 4 days prior to the reservation date(s) being cancelled will receive a full refund of the reservation date(s) being cancelled. Cancellations made within less than four days of date(s) being cancelled will forfeit the fee(s) of reservation date(s) being cancelled. Early departure cancellations can be made by calling our office. For reservations paid via cash or check, refunds will be mailed in the form of a check within 30 days.
