Think Transit and Help Shape the Future of StarMetro
Virtual and In-person Community Meetings to be Held Next Week

StarMetro, the City of Tallahassee's mass transportation system, invites Tallahassee to "Think Transit." Community input to help StarMetro plan routes, design the Southside Transit Center and map out future needs is critical in meeting the City's strategic goals to provide accessible, efficient and equitable public transportation.
To discuss projects and gather feedback, StarMetro will host three open-house style meetings next week. Each meeting will run from 5:30-8 p.m., with a 15-minute presentation at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. This flexible format allows residents to drop in at a time that's convenient for them. COVID safety protocols will be in place. Meetings will be held:
- Monday, Sept 27, at Smith-Williams Service Center, 2295 Pasco Street.
- Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Lawrence-Gregory Community Center, 1115 Dade Street
- Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Jack McLean Community Center, 700 Paul Russell Road
Additionally, ambassadors will conduct rider surveys on StarMetro buses next week.

This is the third set of community meetings for StarMetro's 2021 Major Update, which includes efforts to update its Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA). The COA is a deep dive into StarMetro's existing service operations that helps identify ways to capitalize on system strengths and address weaknesses.
The future Southside Transit Center will be the first public transit center built in Tallahassee since C.K. Steele Plaza in the 1980s. Today, land regulation, urban planning, transit development and local, state, and federal building and permitting requirements are much more advanced. StarMetro is undertaking a robust, multi-year process which will offer many opportunities for stakeholders and community members to evaluate decisions and provide input.
These efforts, as well as others, aim to strengthen existing transit services and provide a long-term strategy for system development.
