Trump knew. Will Iowa Republicans finally condemn him?

Shocking testimony revealed that President Trump knew Jan. 6 protestors were armed and dangerous

Des Moines, Iowa - Progress Iowa Executive Director Matt Sinovic issued the following statement in response to the testimony heard at today's hearing held by the Jan. 6 Committee:

"Iowans believe that people who attempt to sabotage our democracy and endanger the lives of fellow citizens have no business governing.

"We know that on January 6, 2021, Trump Republicans participated in a criminal conspiracy to overturn the will of the people. They helped plan, promote and pay for the attack on our nation.

"Today, we learned from a former top White House aide that former President Trump knew protestors at the rally were armed and still encouraged them to go to the Capitol. We now know the former President wanted to join them there and when the secret service refused to take him there, knowing it wasn't safe, Trump violently lunged at him.

"Trump Republicans and the former President himself have repeatedly tried to cover up their role in this attack by blocking the Congressional and FBI investigations of these crimes.

"We're calling on Iowa Senators Grassley and Ernst, Governor Reynolds, and the entire Republican congressional delegation from Iowa to formally denounce the former President's behavior. They must also pledge to fully support the January 6th Committee in investigating those who planned this attack on our country. Everyone involved in this crime must be held accountable to ensure it never happens again."
