CSCEC builds Chengdu's first nearly zero carbon building

CSCEC has integrated a number of core patented technologies to build the CSCEC Binhu Design Headquarters (CSCEC Low Carbon Intelligent Demonstration Office Building), which is the first nearly zero carbon building in Chengdu.

The building adopts more than 30 low-carbon building technologies, reducing the average annual energy consumption from 120 kWh/m2 to 40-80 kWh/m2, saving 1.86 million kWh of electricity and about 1.5 million yuan per year, and reducing carbon emission by about 1,027 tons per year. The building makes use of the site height difference to reduce excavation of earth and stones to achieve smoother air circulation; more than 8,000 square meters of roof gardens are laid out, and green vines are covered around the building to effectively reduce the urban heat island effect and achieve an annual carbon sequestration capacity of 1,000 tons. At the same time, rainwater collection ponds are set up in the basement for plant irrigation and site washing, and a smart irrigation system is adopted, saving about 1,700 tons of water per year.

The building's curtain wall is made of special glass, which has a better heat gain coefficient than ordinary glass and can save 35% of the energy consumption of air conditioners. The building is equipped with light patio and light duct, which enables 87% of the functional rooms to realize natural lighting. Photovoltaic panels are installed on the top of the building, and a "power bank" is built in the basement to store photovoltaic power, which can provide electricity for the lighting of the demonstration area and computers on the first and second floors, as well as for lighting and charging in the basement.
