Florida PSC Celebrates Lineworkers on National Lineman Appreciation Day

TALLAHASSEE - Today is National Lineman Appreciation Day. This annual celebration, on April 18, highlights our often unrecognized lineworkers for their dedicated daily work to keep the lights on. The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) appreciates and applauds these men and women who keep the power pumping to homes and businesses across America.

"Lineworkers are a committed team of men and women who often work in dangerous conditions to help restore power in their own community or in other communities needing assistance," said PSC Chairman Mike La Rosa. "These Hometown Heroes work around the clock to keep power flowing. Collectively, lineworkers maintain the nation's more than 5.5 million miles of local distribution lines. Join me to #ThankALineman on this appreciation day."

Lineworkers construct, operate, and maintain equipment and power lines in utilities' service territories. They are trained to work safely and efficiently in all kinds of extreme conditions. Using the latest technologies, lineworkers can quickly restore power after a storm and help return normalcy to families, communities, and businesses nationwide.

You don't have to know a lineman to celebrate this day. You can reach out to lineworkers on social media with #ThankALineman.
