DALLAS - Two Dallas ISD teachers have been selected for the 2024 Whataburger WhataTeacher Award and will each be surprised with a jumbo $1,000 check on Monday, May 6. The grant will help support the purchase of classroom supplies, decor, or fund projects.

The surprise check delivery will be held at the following times and locations:

  • 12:30 p.m., Solar Preparatory School for Boys at John F. Kennedy Learning Center.
  • 1:50 p.m., F.P. Caillet Elementary School.

Two schools will unveil new book vending machines
Two Dallas ISD schools will unveil book vending machines next week to advance literacy among young students. Courtesy of the Dallas Education Foundation and partners like ATMOS, Whataburger and the Dallas Mavs, this unique initiative allows students to purchase a book of their choice using tokens earned in the classroom for positive behavior and academic achievements.

  • 8:30 a.m., Monday, May 6, at C.A. Tatum Jr. Elementary School
  • 9 a.m., Friday, May 10, at Nathan Adams Elementary School

Graduation season is here
With graduation season approaching, the Class of 2024 is gearing up to celebrate this significant milestone with their families, peers, and community. Commencement ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 18, at Ellis Davis Field House, and will continue through the following two weekends.
