As Biden’s Historic Border Crisis Emboldens Cartels, House Republicans Continue to Hold the Biden Admin Accountable

House Republicans visited our southern border again this week to shed light on the devastating consequences of the Biden administration's open-border policies. Reps. Tony Gonzales, Drew Ferguson, Jake Ellzey, Tim Walberg, Julia Letlow, Carlos Gimenez, Kevin Hern, Jerry Carl, David Rouzer, and Connie Conway visited Eagle Pass, Texas to see firsthand the historic surge of illegal immigrants, which is overwhelming our border communities and law enforcement while emboldening criminal cartels.

This Congressional Delegation comes on the heels of a New York Times report that showed criminal cartels are now raking in roughly $13 billion from dangerous human smuggling under Joe Biden's watch.

BIDEN'S BORDER CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:

  • There have now been OVER 500,000 known "got-aways" at our southern border since the beginning of FY2022 in October.
  • In June, there were 207,416 migrant encounters at our southern border.
    • June was the fourth consecutive month of OVER 200,000 encounters.
    • That is a 527% increase in apprehension compared to the last June of President Trump's administration.
    • There have now been 16 straight months of OVER 150,000 illegal border crossings.
    • This June is the worst on record, according to CBP data.
  • Human smuggling is now a roughly 13-BILLION-dollar business for criminal cartels under the Biden administration's open-border policies.
  • Since Joe Biden took office, OVER 3.1 MILLION illegal immigrants have been apprehended at our southern border.
    • According to court documents, the Biden administrationhas allowed over 1 million illegal immigrants to settle in the U.S..
    • The number of total encounters in FY22 has already eclipsed the record-setting number in FY21, and there are still three months remaining in FY22.
  • In June, an additional six illegal immigrants apprehended at our southern border were on the terrorist watch list bringing the total to 56 for FY22.
    • That is nearly double the 30 in the previous four years combined.
  • So far in fiscal year 2022, 8,400 pounds of fentanyl have been seized by Border Patrol.
    • This is DOUBLE the total for ALL of fiscal year 2020.
  • As this border crisis worsens, it's no wonder the majority of Americans disapprove of Biden's handling of illegal immigration, according to a new Fox News poll.

MAKE NO MISTAKE: President Biden and House Democrats' radical open-border policies, including ending border wall construction, engaging in mass releases, and fighting to end the successful 'Remain in Mexico' policy, have incentivized dangerous human trafficking and drug smuggling across our southern border.
