Classification Regulations and Advanced technologies for Naval Ships and Auxiliaries

A two day conference on 'Classification Regulations and Advanced Technologies for Naval ships and Auxiliaries' was conducted from 04 to 05 August 2022 by Directorate of Naval Architecture Indian Navy. The conference was inaugurated by the Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani, COM. The theme of the conference was Future Naval Ships- Technologically Transformative, Economically Viable and Environmentally Sustainable.Representatives from various units of Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, DRDO labs, Classification Societies, Indian Shipyards and academia participated in the event. The conference provided a platform to build synergy between Maritime forces, Regulatory bodies , DRDO labs and shipyards for harnessing new technologies in a sustainable manner to promote Indigenous warship building as per international standard. Various sessions on advanced Naval technology were presented by eminent member of the Classification societies IR class Lloyds register ABS ClassNK RINA DNV Bureauveritas . The Classification societies also explained their capabilities in providing efficient and qualitative transformation for naval ship building; and maintenance using Green technology. Futuristic concepts such as Digital twins Autonomous vessels Hybrid marine propulsion were discussed extensively. Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh, CWP&A , delivered the concluding remarks for the conference.
