During the exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group, six cruise missile firings were carried out in the Northern Fleet

During the practical actions of the completed exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group, six sea-and land-based cruise missiles launches were performed at the Northern Fleet.

The launches of the Granit missiles were carried out by the crews of the heavy nuclear missile cruiser Pyotr Velikiy and the nuclear submarine missile cruiser Orel. Anti-ship missiles Vulkan and Moskit were fired by the combat crews of the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov and the destroyer Admiral Ushakov. Coastal missile systems Bal and Bastion have worked out firing at sea targets from the coast of the Sredny Peninsula and the Arctic island of Alexandra Land.

More than half of all completed combat exercises will be presented for the prize of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy by type of training.

During the exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group, the main attention was paid to the practical actions of commanders and headquarters in planning the use and management of forces and troops.

At various stages of the event, the coordination of tactical groups of ships and vessels, units of land and coastal troops during the implementation of joint combat training tasks in the Arctic was worked out.

The tasks of defending the Arctic territories of Russia, ensuring military security and maritime economic activity of the Russian Federation in the Arctic and suppressing the actions of mock illegal armed formations and sabotage and intelligence groups were also solved.

Practical actions of the military administration bodies, forces and troops of the Northern Fleet were trained near the Franz Josef Land archipelago, in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, as well as the Laptev Sea near the Novosibirsk Islands.

According to the preliminary assessment of the command, all the tasks assigned to the forces and troops of the Northern Fleet have been successfully solved.

Up to 8 thousand servicemen were involved in the exercise, more than 800 units of combat and special equipment were involved - about 40 tanks, up to 460 armored combat vehicles, up to 240 units of guns, mortars and multiple launch rocket systems, about 120 aircraft, up to 50 ships and support vessels.
