Ministry of Culture and Sport calls for subsidy proposals to foster translation to foreign languages

The period to present applications begins on 26 March and ends of 4 May 2021.

The subsidies may be applied for by public or private foreign publishers, whether non-profit businesses or not, whether legal or natural persons registered under the system for self-employment in their country of origin, provided they are legally registered.

Specifically, these subsidies seek to foster and benefit knowledge overseas of the works that make up the common Spanish cultural heritage through the financing of the cost of the translation into a foreign language.

In turn, this translation support paves the way for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2022, where Spain will be the guest of honour country. Its presence at this trade fair will be a good moment to increase the knowledge and translation into foreign languages of works of Spanish cultural heritage.

The Frankfurt Book Fair is the most important event in the non-Spanish-speaking publishing world, which gathers together publishers, literary agents, writers and professionals related to the world of books each year. Some 80% of all international annual copyright contracts at a publishing level are signed there each year.
