NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans notified Richard's Disposal (RDI) that they were in violation of their contractual agreement because of a failure to complete routes in Service Area 1 as required.
"This is an example of the labor issues being felt as a part of the Great Resignation," said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. "RDI is having trouble keeping their hopper workforce."
RDI advised the City that they have reengaged Ramelli Waste as a subcontractor to expand their resources. Ramelli provided RDI with four additional trucks with hoppers to support solid waste collections.
RDI expects to complete 90% of Monday's routes this evening. The City continues to push RDI to expand its subcontractor group to provide the needed capacity to complete scheduled collections. We will continue to monitor and hold contracting partners accountable to ensure that basic City services are delivered.
