New facility for primary and advanced specialty care, medical education and simulation and team member wellness
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 20, 2022 - BHSH Spectrum Health West Michigan breaks ground today on a 12-story, 240,000-square-foot building located across the street from Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.
The new building will bring together several outpatient services, including primary care and specialty services which include heart and vascular and neurosciences clinics, West Michigan's only heart and lung transplant center and residency clinics. The facility also will include a simulation center to train and educate physicians and other caregivers through applied experiential learning and hands on-innovative technology. It will also include several services to support physician and team member wellness.
This new outpatient center is located at the former site of the Cook Institute.

The downtown outpatient center is part of the $151 million investment in patient care locations announced earlier this year. Other clinical facilities are under construction in Lakeview and Big Rapids. These facilities demonstrate BHSH Spectrum Health West Michigan's commitment to making care accessible and convenient.
The new outpatient center will be located at 251 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids and will open in late 2024.
