Natasha Kohne Again Named Among Daily Journal Top Cyber Lawyers

(San Francisco) - Akin Gump is pleased to share that Akin Gump cybersecurity, privacy and data protection practice co-head Natasha Kohne has been selected by Daily Journal as a Top Cybersecurity Lawyer 2022. This is Ms. Kohne's fourth selection to this list.

On her start and interest in cybersecurity, she said, "I got into cybersecurity when I lived in the United Arab Emirates for seven years and opened Akin Gump's office in Abu Dhabi…I find particularly fascinating the ability to conduct investigations with IT and information systems, to peel the onion back and determine what happened in individual cases."

She notes among the challenges of the work finding how best to mitigate risk for clients and ensure that further damage post-breach is minimized, while also preparing for potential litigation. She also discusses the unknowns in what she calls "a war in cyberspace," such as the identity of the threat actors, their motivations and their affiliations.

The profile discusses her ongoing work with the National Cotton Council of America on its launch of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, a program to demonstrate domestic cotton producers meet sustainability goals in key areas. The profile notes that this is a first-of-its-kind verification system that gives better transparency to stakeholders along the cotton supply chain.

Ms. Kohne said of this work, "We have developed programs and a database to compile information on complex supply chain issues for a fundamental product in a time of emphasis on improving the environment and achieving sustainability goals.
