Commvault and HPE: Meeting customers where they are with new End-to-End Hybrid Cloud Solutions

By Thad Keating, VP, Metallic GTM

Today's IT organizations live between worlds, adopting cloud technologies at unprecedented rates while they continue to manage critical applications and data on-premises. Into this reality comes the need to protect from growing cyber threats, to meet complex compliance demands, and do more with less. By bringing solutions to market with our trusted, long-standing partners like HPE, Commvault ensures that we're delivering the right technologies at the right time to help our customers meet and overcome these needs.

To that end, I'm excited to announce that we have recently expanded our existing joint solutions with HPE to deliver unique offerings for hybrid cloud data management - with a new set of reference architectures for Commvault's flagship HyperScale X integrated data management solution, as well as the introduction of new offerings for HPE sellers, with the availability of Metallic Data Management-as-a-Service (DMaaS) in the HPE price book.

Building on a strong foundation: game changing DMaaS for the hybrid cloud

Customers have been benefitting from Commvault's rich suite of Intelligent Data Services through HPE GreenLake, HPE's edge-to-cloud platform. As the 2021 GreenLake Momentum Partner of the Year, together we provide customers with turnkey, radically simple, infinitely scalable data protection solutions.

We are adding to this joint success with the delivery of Metallic DMaaS, a cloud-native solution offering Commvault technology in a simple SaaS model. The combination of Metallic paired with HyperScale X allows customers to uniquely protect data wherever it lives, while reaping the benefits of SaaS-delivered data management - including fast time to value, reduced TCO, and simplified operations. We know that cloud-leaning customers are rapidly adopting DMaaS - the fastest growing segment of the data protection market - yet they still need to be able to protect on-premises workloads without waiting up to 10 days for a restore.

With HyperScale X and Metallic, HPE customers can now protect data across environments with backup and recovery options using the most simplified single pane of glass controls covering on-premises, hybrid, and cloud workloads - without sacrificing performance. The addition of the Metallic portfolio to HPE's price book offers customers unprecedented flexibility, enabling them to keep a copy of their data on-premises for fast recovery, while still enjoying all the benefits of a SaaS-delivered cloud data management.

HPE customers now have an easy path to protecting and managing data across their entire organization and accelerating hybrid cloud adoption - all from a simple, scalable, resilient platform deployed on industry-leading HPE storage systems.

New HyperScale X reference architectures further simplify customer adoption

Completing the end-to-end picture of how we are simplifying management and driving transformation for our joint customers is a scale-out integrated solution designed to modernize how customers manage their data - both on-premises and in the cloud. Based on HPE hardware, this solution marries an innovative scale-out architecture built on distributed storage with industry-leading data protection and management through Commvault's Intelligent Data Services portfolio.

The reference architectures we have delivered together with HPE so far have proven to be our most popular configurations for HyperScale X. So much so that we've just introduced a new HyperScale X solution that extends our reach to mid-market, branch offices, and remote and edge locations with a smaller form factor, lower power server platform. Designed and delivered using the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 server platform, this new HyperScale X solution expands our existing portfolio, offering a smaller capacity, 4 drive platform to meet with edge and remote office workload requirements. Offered with initial capacities of 25TB and 50TB options, with all the same benefits that Hyperscale X currently provides on the larger HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 12 drive and HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 24 drive server platforms.

Commvault takes its partnerships seriously and we join HPE as the torch bearers for the future of data and application management, protection, recovery and as-a-Service delivery. We're committed to continued innovation with our partners and deep integration between our portfolio and that of HPE makes storage and data management simple, secure, and robust enough for the most demanding environments.
