SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society will share what makes great leaders and mentors and how to thrive and survive in the midst of a historic workforce shortage at the 2024 McKnight's Women of Distinction Awards and Forum. The event takes place May 14 in Chicago.
2024 Rising Star recipient Shelly Koch, vice president of operations of home-based services for the Good Samaritan Society, has been invited to take part in a panel discussion including such topics as strong organizational leadership, formal and informal mentoring, and helping team members reach peak performance in their roles. Lois Bowers, editor with Haymarket Media, will moderate the discussion.
"Empowering team members to be their best selves both in their professional and personal lives is at the heart of everything I do," said Koch. "Building others up and delivering feedback in a way that motivates - not detracts - is key to building a strong team and future leaders. I look forward to sharing my personal journey to becoming a leader with the Good Samaritan Society and how I hope to inspire the next generation of leaders."
2023 Hall of Honor inductee Aimee Middleton, chief operating officer for the Good Samaritan Society, has also been invited to take part in a panel discussion titled 'The long-term care workforce shortage: surviving and thriving,'" moderated by McKnight's Home Care editor Liza Berger. She will be joined on the panel by executives from United Church of Christ Homes, Legacy Healthcare and Always Caring HomeCare.

Stephanie Uhrmacher, senior living administrator of Good Samaritan Society - Hastings Village in Hastings, Neb., is also being recognized as a Rising Star winner.
The McKnight's Women of Distinction Program honors women across the skilled nursing, senior living and home care industries who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their communities, facilities and agencies, all while making a significant impact on their organization and lives of the individuals they serve. Honorees and industry executives will gather to celebrate the 2024 class of Rising Stars, Hall of Honor recipients, Veteran VIPs and Spirit Award winners at the official Women of Distinction dinner and awards ceremony.
