Statement from Matt Smith, President, Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Allegheny Conference, on the Election of Pennsylvania's Next Governor

(PITTSBURGH - November 8, 2022) - "The Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, congratulates Josh Shapiro on being elected the next governor of Pennsylvania. Standing at the precipice of a new year, we look forward to collaborating with Governor-elect Shapiro, the new administration, and the newly elected and re-elected legislators across the Commonwealth.

"We eagerly anticipate partnering with the new administration to achieve a vital, globally competitive Pennsylvania where all people thrive. We are very encouraged by the Governor-elect's commitment to serve as Pennsylvania's Chief Salesperson, and we are at the ready to actively engage with the administration in economic development initiatives that will position the Pittsburgh region and Commonwealth to compete successfully for new jobs, talent and investment. Our organization is excited to work with the Governor-elect on many of the priorities he articulated during the campaign, namely structural enhancements in our permitting system, and fully maximizing our region's rapid growth sectors, including autonomy and robotics, life sciences, energy and advanced manufacturing.

"Once again, we congratulate Governor-elect Shapiro and legislators across the state on their successful elections to serve the Commonwealth. We look forward to enhanced collaboration in the future and the opportunities that lie ahead for Pennsylvania."
