Call for expressions of interest for civil society representatives to participate in work of Committee for Advanced Therapies, CAT, 24/09/2021

The European Commission has launched a call for expressions of interest to represent patient and healthcare professional organisations in EMA's Committee for Advanced Therapies (CAT).

The Commission will appoint two members and two alternates representing healthcare professional organisations, and two members and two alternates representing patient organisations. The successful candidates will be appointed for a three-year mandate starting on 1 July 2022.

The deadline for submission of applications expires on 29 October 2021.

The role of patient organisation representatives in the CAT is to ensure that patients' needs and views are taken into consideration in all the discussions of the committee.

Healthcare professional organisation representatives are responsible for ensuring that the needs of practitioners, clinicians, pharmacists or other health professionals, as well as real-life implications of any committee recommendations, are also considered during the discussions of the committee.

Further information on the application procedure and the assessment criteria is available on the Commission's website.

EMA has also recently published a call for representatives in EMA's Management Board and Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC).
