BBC Radio 3 shares the love - and heartbreak - this Valentine’s Day

Broadcast from 6.30-9am, 14 February, and then available on BBC Sounds

Amongst the usual eclectic mix of music on Breakfast, Petroc Trelawny presents some romantic recordings for Valentine's Day ranging from Scottish composer James Oswald's The Secret Kiss and The Parting Kiss, to the soundtrack of the quintessential English romance film Brief Encounter and perhaps one of the most romantic of piano concertos ever written, Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2.

For Breakfast's Friday poem, we also compare and contrast two Shakespeare Sonnets. His Sonnet 130 My Mistress' Eyes Are Nothing Like The Sun read by Paul Scofield and Sonnet 18 Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer's Day? sung by Cleo Laine.
