Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa Releases Statement on the Passing of Bob Slagle

BROWNSVILLE, Texas -Today, Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosareleased the following statement on the passing of former Texas Democratic Party Chairman Bob Slagle:

"We need to take a moment to recognize the monumental loss Bob Slagle's passing is for our Party, our state, and our country. Bob was the first independently-elected chairman of the modern Texas Democratic Party, and he served decades with the Party in Texas - as well as on the DNC.

"Bob was the embodiment of the reasons we are Democrats: fighting for working Texan families, and working to create a more fair and just society for Texas children to grow up in. Through his work with the Texas Young Democrats, the Mexican-American Democrats, and countless other organizations, Bob worked tirelessly to expand the party. He lived by the 'big tent' philosophy, and spared no effort to make the tent even bigger.

"Bob was my friend, my mentor, and an institution in his own right. He was loved and he will be missed."
