Russian and Mongolian pilots established twinning ties of aviation regiments

The Formation of the Air Force of the Eastern Military District and the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Mongolia for the first time established twinning ties between the Mongolian Air Force Aviation Regiment - and the separate assault aviation regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Eastern Military District, stationed in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the successor of the legendary Mongolian squadron.

In order to preserve the historical memory of the common military past and strengthen bilateral cooperation and mutual trust, a delegation from the Eastern Military District under the leadership of Major General Vladimir Kulikov, Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Formation of the Eastern Military District, is on a working visit to Mongolia. The delegation included the head of the department of international military cooperation of the Eastern Military District, Colonel Ivan Taraev, Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence of the Eastern Military District for military-political work, Colonel Sergey Sursyakov, and the command of the aviation regiment - the successor of the Mongolian Arat squadron.

The Russian delegation had a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mongolia, Lieutenant General Dovchinsurengiin Ganzorig, Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Mongolia, Major General Ochir Enkhbayar, as well as with Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Mongolia, and the first pilot-cosmonaut Zhongshan Zhongshan.

During the visit, the Russian delegation visited the Mongolian Air Force aviation regiment stationed at the Nalaikh military airfield in Ulan Bator city, where the Mongolian Arat aviation squadron of the USSR Armed Forces was previously based. They also laid flowers at the monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov in Ulan Bator. The parties also agreed to carry out further joint training of the flight personnel of aviation regiments and events within the framework of twinning relations.

Colonel Ivan Stepanovich Taraev, head of the department of international military cooperation of the Eastern Military District, said that this event is another step in the development of bilateral partnership. Today, one can note the high dynamics of the development of military cooperation and interaction between the Air Defence Forces and the Armed Forces of Mongolia on the basis of historically established ties, traditions of friendship and good neighborliness.
