Building on our Flexible Work+ proposal to support lifelong learning

Tens of thousands of people in Canada use Uber to make extra money. 74% of drivers and delivery people describe their hours on the platform as part-time as they manage responsibilities like full-time employment, studies, parenting, caregiving, or entrepreneurship. They take advantage of the flexibility on Uber to focus on other projects-starting a small business, building a career, or helping them and their families get ahead.

In March, we rolled out our Flexible Work+ proposalwhere we committed to investing in supporting lifelong learning. Our focus is to help people get more out of working on Uber both on and off the road. Today, we're following up on that commitment to roll out new learning opportunities and resources for drivers and delivery people who use Uber.

First, we are partnering with Rosetta Stone so that every driver and delivery person in nearly every country around the world has the opportunity to learn a new language-for free. Rosetta's language learning resources will be fully integrated with our Driver app. Drivers and delivery people at certain loyalty tiers of the Uber Pro program will be able to use it to learn all of the 24 languages available on Rosetta Stone.*

'For nearly 30 years, people have turned to Rosetta Stone to express themselves and hold meaningful conversations in new languages,' said Paul Mishkin, CEO of IXL Learning, the parent company of Rosetta Stone. 'We're delighted to help Uber Earners bridge communication gaps with customers and make deeper connections with people everywhere.'

For those who may be seeking a new opportunity, we want to make it easier to show the experience and dedication they put into their work while using Uber. Starting today, all drivers and delivery people can request a letter from Uber that describes the work they've done while using the Uber app. This letter will be on Uber's letterhead and include when they first signed up to use the app, the number of trips or deliveries they've done, their average customer rating, and top feedback. Drivers and delivery people can use these letters as evidence of their experience in job or other applications.

We also want to support the entrepreneurial goals of our community. This fall, we're partnering with The Forumto help self-identified women drivers, delivery people, restaurateurs, and their family members take their business to the next level. The Forum's entrepreneurship programming will cover everything from financials to operations and marketing. Programming will be in English and French, and anyone interested can sign up to learn more.

'For 20 years, The Forum has been focused on creating maximum impact with Canadian women entrepreneurs. Our partnership with Uber Canada will help more entrepreneurs access the resources, mentorship, and community they need to be successful,' said Paulina Cameron, CEO, The Forum. 'We look forward to launching this program later this year to support the business visions of self-identified women drivers, delivery people, restaurateurs, and their families.'

These new resources are available to nearly all people who use Uber's platform. We know using the Uber platform may be a temporary stop on someone's career journey. While they are here, we hope to give them new resources that can help them achieve their dreams.
