PASSED: Rep. Ruben Gallego NDAA Amendment on Securing 5G Networks of U.S. Allies and Partners

WASHINGTON, DC-Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) today announced the passage of his amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on securing allies' 5G networks to prevent destructive influence from strategic competitors like China, Russia, and their owned and affiliated companies.

'At a time when our strategic competitors exploit technology like 5G to influence democratic processes, the United States and our allies need to be prepared to secure our networks. This amendment is just the first step of the 'Digital Marshall Plan' proposed by myself and Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, and the approval of my amendment today will help Congress understand how we can better help our partners stop malign influence,' said Rep. Ruben Gallego.

The approved amendment directs the Secretary of Defense to provide details to Congress on existing United States efforts to help NATO allies secure national 5G communications networks and opportunities and challenges to expanding those efforts.
