Professor Lee Smith features in a new 'who's who' of international research

Lee Smith, Professor of Public Health at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), has been named as one of the world's most influential researchers in a newly published list.

The Highly Cited Researchers 2022 list is produced by experts from the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate and highlights the authors of the top 1% of most cited research worldwide.

Both quantitative and qualitative analysis have been used to identify individuals from across the globe who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their chosen field or fields of research.

This year a total of 6,938 researchers from 69 countries and regions feature on the list, which has been called a "who's who" of world research.

Professor Smith is an epidemiologist with expertise in physical activity. His work on sedentary behaviour, and how changes can improve the health of employees, was part of ARU's submission to the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF), which measures the impact of academic research in the UK.

He has led ARU's COVID-19 research and conducts studies into fitness and health outcomes with academic colleagues worldwide. Professor Smith said:
