Otar Shamugia meets local farmers in the Shida Kartli region

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Otar Shamugia together with the First Deputy Minister Mr. George Khanishvili, State Representative in the Shida Kartli region Mr. Mikheil Shakulashvili and Mayor of Gori Mr. Vladimir Khinchegashvili paid a visit to the village of Dzevera, Gori Municipality, where state officials met with the local farmers and inspected the farm of "Agrokartli" company.

"We met with the farmers in the Shida Kartli region and informed them about the program '' Promoting the Sale of Non-standard Apples". In addition, we highlighted supporting mechanisms implemented by the state for the development of all production links in agriculture.

Within the projects and through our support, there are more than a hundred storage farms built across the country which enable each farmer to store their harvest in compliance with the modern standards and deliver their produce to the market throughout the year", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

"Agrokartli" is a beneficiary company of the Rural Development Agency; In 2017, the company received co-financing of GEL 96,816 for planting an apple orchard on 10 hectares of agricultural land area and also benefited from a preferential agro-credit. "Agrokartli" has invested GEL 1.6 million to set up a cold storage farm, including GEL 600,000 grant from the Rural Development Agency, and a preferential agro-credit exceeding GEL 800,000; 500 tonnes of apples can be stored in the cold storage warehouse.
