Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in St. John the Baptist Parish

Garyville - On Monday, April 15, 2024, shortly after 8:00 pm, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a two-vehicle crash on LA 44 at LA 54 in Garyville. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 32-year-old Frankie Credidio of Paulina.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Credidio was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on LA 44, approaching the LA 54 intersection. At the same time, a 2023 Freightliner Tractor Trailer, driven by 48-year-old Deshone Augustine of New Orleans, was traveling south on LA 54. For reasons still under investigation, the Freightliner failed to properly yield at the intersection and turned east onto LA 44, into the path of the Harley. The Harley impacted the rear side of the trailer pulled by the Freightliner.

Credidio was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet, suffered fatal injuries, and died on scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, standard toxicology samples were taken from both drivers and will be submitted for further analysis. Any criminal or traffic violations discovered in the ongoing investigation will be forwarded to the St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney's Office.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Troopers would like to stress the importance of utilizing proper safety equipment, such as DOT-approved helmets. Properly wearing an approved helmet decreases the chances of traumatic brain injury. Additionally, Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course.
