The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Geronimo Stilton discovering the thousand wonders of Italy

There is a new stratospheric treasure hunt dedicated to the beauties of Italy, led by Geronimo Stilton - the fabumouse reporter beloved by children all over the world. Elisabetta Dami is the mind behind the initiative which explores our country in a new 224-page book: Mille Meraviglie. Viaggio alla scoperta dell'Italia (A Thousand Wonders: A Voyage of Discovery of Italy). This is a special, joint project between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, produced by Edizioni Piemme-Mondadori Libri, with the aim of introducing girls and boys from around the world to the artistic and cultural wonders of Italy.

Together with his family, in A Thousand Wonders Geronimo Stilton travels across the 'Stivale' (which refers to Italy's boot shape) on a voyage of discovery of cities, villages, histories and landscapes. From Rome to Venice, from the Apennines to the Alps, the friendly reporter visits the most famous monuments and places (including many of the Italian sites in the UNESCO World Heritage lists) without forgetting hidden gems: lesser-known treasures, gastronomic specialties, places of scientific research, and artisanal and industrial products. The fabumouse's adventure is a real scavenger hunt, full of games, curiosities and surprises.

Published in four languages (Italian, French, Spanish and English) in collaboration with Atlantyca Entertainment for international editions, and printed in 16,000 copies, the special edition of Mille Meraviglie will be exclusively available via the cultural network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation: the Embassies, Consulates, Italian Cultural Institutes and Schools abroad. In addition, the digital version is freely available on italiana.esteri.it, the new portal of the Ministry dedicated to promoting Italian culture, creativity and language.

Born in Topazia ('Mouseville'), the capital of Mouse Island, Geronimo Stilton holds a degree in Topology of Rat Literature and Comparative Archeotopic Philosophy. He is the Chief Editor for the Rodent's Echo, the most famous newspaper on Mouse Island, founded by his grandfather Torquato Travolgiratti (Torquato Ratsteamroller). In his spare time, Geronimo collects antique cheese crusts from the eighteenth century, but most of all he loves to write: he has authored exceptionally successful books, published in 51 languages, that have sold 37 million copies in Italy alone, and 175 million worldwide!
The stories of Geronimo Stilton are published in Italy by Edizioni Piemme-Mondadori Libri, and are available in eBook and audiobook format. To discover all the adventures of Geronimo Stilton and his friends, visit geronimostilton.com.
