Formulation of 'JOGMEC Carbon Neutral Initiative'：Basic policy and action plan for achieving a carbon-neutral society

JOGMEC has made securing a stable and affordable supply of resource and energy as its top priority while actively addressing environmental issues related to resource development. On April 1, 2021, JOGMEC has established the 'Carbon Neutral Promotion Headquarters' in order to promote various projects that contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society. The recently formulated 'JOGMEC Carbon Neutral Initiative' summarizes the initiatives that JOGMEC should promote to achieve a carbon- neutral society, with activities centering on the above-mentioned Promotion Headquarters.

This initiative establishes three basic policies and an action plan. The basic policies are 'strengthening efforts for clean resources and energy,' 'strengthening efforts for decarbonized fuel and technology,' and 'contributing to the development of systems necessary for decarbonization'. Action plans incorporate specific activities to be strengthened, to achieve a carbon-neutral society. These include decarbonizing fossil fuel development, securing a stable LNG supply, development of geothermal resources, development of metal and mineral resources, support for hydrogen and ammonia production, and comprehensive support for carbon capture and storage (CCS).

JOGMEC will work through specific activities based on this initiative, to achieve a carbon-neutral society through the stable supply of resources and energy.
