Update: Dieu Kato has been safely located and taken into custody.

The Boise Police department is looking for a suspect involved in a shooting Tuesday night on the 3400 block of 34th street. The suspect is Dieu Kato, 17, of Boise. Following an investigation into the shooting, detectives obtained a warrant for Kato's arrest for two charges of aggravated assault and one charge of firing into an occupied dwelling. Kato is believed to be armed. Detectives and the US Marshals Task Force have made multiple efforts to find Kato and are now asking for tips from the public. Anyone who sees him or has information on where he might be is asked to contact 911 or you can email Officer Thueson with the US Marshals Task Force at [email protected].

Kato is 5'10", 155 pounds

What happened:

Around 11:20 pm on June 28, 2022 Boise Police were dispatched to a shots fired call on the 3400 block of N. 34th Street in Boise. Evidence shows a group of people were on a patio when the suspect approached wearing a mask. The group fled into the house as the suspect began firing a gun. One victim was struck by debris from the bullets striking near him.

Boise Police Violent Crime detectives responded to the scene and after an investigation identified Kato as the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

The Boise Police Department does not regularly identify suspects under 18 years old. Due to the nature of the crime and information that indicates the suspect is a continuing threat to public safety, the Boise Police Department is identifying the suspect.
