Mayor-President Broome breaks ground on MOVEBR Project

Baton Rouge, LA - Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and the MOVEBR Program Management Team broke ground today on another MOVEBR Project. The South Choctaw Drive Project consists of increasing vehicular capacity from Flannery Road to the Central Thruway. The improvements include adding two 12-feet-wide travel lanes, 5-foot sidewalks on both sides of the roadway, sub-surface drainage, roadway lighting, and an overlay of the existing lanes.

Upon completion, South Choctaw Drive will be four lanes from Airline Highway to Central Thruway. Mayor Broome stated that the MOVEBR Program continues to fulfill the goals of the program by increasing roadway capacity and reducing traffic congestion.

The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers Inc and the contractor is RJ Daigle & Sons Contractors, LLC. Construction is expected be completed in the 4th Quarter of 2023.
