ASICS CONTINUES TO COOPERATE WITH RIGHT TO PLAY NOW SUPPORTING THE CHILDREN OF EAST AFRICA

[25 May - Kobe, Japan] ASICS continues to cooperate with international non-profit organization, Right To Play. Under the extended agreement, ASICS will support Right To Play programs for disadvantaged children in East Africa, such as Uganda, Burundi, Mozambique, and Tanzania.

ASICS launched the project partnering with Right To Play in 2018. Since then, sport focused activities have offered Syrian refugees in Lebanon hope for the future by supporting more than 7,000 people and training 115 coaches.

The activities were received so well that they were adopted into physical education as a continuous program in local school.

The extended partnership agreement will support Right To Play's continued public programs (including providing opportunities and equipment for play and sports, peace education, and gender equality development) for the children of East Africa, a region beset by multiple social issues. By encouraging participation in play and sports, Right To Play hopes to help nurture children's healthy minds and bodies and teach necessary skills for living so that they can create peaceful local societies on their own.

ASICS was founded in 1949 based on the ideals of nurturing the mental and physical health of young people through sports. That mission is still at the core of all activities at ASICS today.

Right To Play protects, educates and empowers children to rise

above adversity using the power of play, including games and sport. This collaboration allows the two partners to align and realize their visions.

Minako Yoshikawa, Senior General Manager of Sustainability Division of ASICS Corporation says:

'At ASICS, we are committed to promote mental and physical well-being of the world. Future generations are our precious properties and they build our future for the better. We empower children through sport. Our brand name, ASICS, is an acronym, Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, a sound mind in a sound body, and we are living on it.'
