COMMANDER OF RBAF ATTENDS 15TH ACDFIM

REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, Friday, 9 March 2018 - The Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud attended the 15th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM) at the Fullerton Hotel, Republic of Singapore from 7 March to 9 March 2018.

The theme for this year's ACDFIM is 'Strengthening Cooperation, Building Resilience'. Part of the meeting's agenda included a joint statement discussion and presentations by respective ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces. The Commander of RBAF presented on the topic 'An Overview of Regional Military Collaborations' which emphasised that collaboration is the very essence of resilience against threats.

During the meeting, the ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces adopted the 11th ASEAN Militaries Two-Year Activity Work Plan of 2018 - 2020 of the 15th ACDFIM, which fosters cooperation amongst ASEAN Militaries through practical and concrete cooperative activities, as aligned with this year's theme. During the 15th ACDFIM, ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces also had the opportunity to meet Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Ministry for Defence of Singapore, who hosted a working breakfast.

The Commander of RBAF also held courtesy calls with his ASEAN counterparts to discuss on the bilateral military relations between Brunei Darussalam and the respective ASEAN countries, as well as future initiatives to further strengthen the personal friendship and professional cooperation among the armed forces of the ASEAN region in general.

Prior to the 15th ACDFIM, the 8th ASEAN Military Operations Informal Meeting (AMOIM) and 15th ASEAN Military Intelligence Informal Meeting (AMIIM) were also held simultaneously on 5 to 7 March 2018. Representing the RBAF for AMOIM and AMIIM were the Joint Force Commander, RBAF and the Director of Intelligence respectively. Both meetings set the platform for the ASEAN operational and intelligence communities to come together, promoting exchanges on potential operational activities and intelligence sharing respectively.

During the ACDFIM, AMOIM and AMIIM, security issues of mutual concerns were also discussed, which included counter-terrorism, maritime security, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, and cyber security.

PEMERINTAH ABDB HADIRI ACDFIM YANG KE-15

REPUBLIK SINGAPURA, Juma'at, 09 Mac 2018 - Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB), Mejar Jeneral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud telah menghadiri 15th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting (15th ACDFIM) di Fullerton Hotel, Republik Singapura dari 7 Mac hingga 9 Mac 2018.

Tema mesyuarat ACDFIM tahun ini adalah 'Strengthening Cooperation, Building Resilience'. Sebahagian daripada agenda mesyuarat termasuk perbincangan mengenai joint statement dan penyampaian taklimat oleh Ketua-Ketua Turus Pertahanan ASEAN. Pemerintah ABDB telah menyampaikan taklimat bertajuk 'An Overview of Regional Military Collaborations' yang menekankan bahawa kerjasama adalah perkara yang penting dalam menangani apa jua ancaman luar.

Semasa mesyuarat, Ketua-Ketua Turus Pertahanan ASEAN bersetuju untuk mengadaptasikan ASEAN Militaries Two Year Activity Work Plan of 2018-2020 of the 15th ACDFIM yang terus meningkatkan kerjasama antara angkatan tentera ASEAN melalui kegiatan-kegiatan kerjasama yang praktikal dan konkrit, sejajar dengan tema tahun ini. Semua Ketua-Ketua Turus Pertahanan ASEAN juga berkesempatan untuk bertemu dengan Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Menteri Pertahanan Republik Singapura, yang telah menghoskan working breakfast.

Pemerintah ABDB juga mengadakan kunjungan hormat dengan rakan-rakan ASEAN bagi membincangkan hubungan ketenteraan dua hala yang erat antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan negara masing-masing, serta inisiatif masa depan untuk memperkuatkan jalinan persahabatan peribadi dan hubungan profesional di kalangan angkatan tentera ASEAN secara umum.

Sebelum mesyuarat ACDFIM berlangsung, 8th ASEAN Military Operations Informal Meeting (AMOIM) dan 15th ASEAN Military Intelligence Informal Meeting (AMIIM) juga berlangsung pada 5 Mac hingga 7 Mac 2018. Mewakili ABDB di mesyuarat-mesyuarat berkenaan ialah Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama ABDB dan Pengarah Perisikan Kementerian Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Kedua-dua mesyuarat itu menetapkan platform untuk komuniti operasi dan risikan ASEAN untuk bersama-sama, menggalakkan pertukaran mengenai aktiviti operasi masa depan dan perkongsian perisikan masing-masing.

Semasa mesyuarat-mesyuarat tersebut, isu-isu sekuriti kepentingan bersama juga telah dibincangkan termasuk pencegahan pengganasan, keselamatan maritim, bantuan kemanusiaan dan bencana alam, dan keselamatan siber.
