Braskem's mission is to collaborate for the development of a better society for current and future generations, through various actions and programs that have equality and inclusion as guiding principle. As a result, the company was selected as one of the finalists in the WEPs (Women's Empowerment Principles) Award, recognized by the United Nations Global Compact, in the 'Companies Empowering Women' category. As a signatory to the WEPs since 2015, the company achieved the Bronze position for the second time - the first was in 2019.

This recognition is in line with the company's purpose, which has a pillar dedicated to the topic in its 7 macro business goals based on the UN sustainability goals. Through the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) program, the company conducts actions to enhance women's representation and inclusion in leadership positions, carries out cross-organizational initiatives aimed at the inclusion and empowerment of minority groups, and ratifies the importance organizations have in such transformation, by diversifying internal processes and policies towards a gender-equality culture. Other goals of the DEI program target the socioeconomic pillar, people with disabilities, race and ethnicity and LGBTQIA+.

Representation in figures

In 2020, women held 30% of leadership positions at Braskem, guiding the promotion of gender equity in order to build an increasingly more inclusive society with no gender stereotypes so that women can take up the places they wish. This is the result of the Integration, Development and Training programs, in addition to initiatives aimed at preparing and training for Leadership over the last few years.
