TSTC’s Marshall location honors 46 graduates at commencement

(MARSHALL, Texas) - Marshall's Memorial City Hall was filled with applause on Friday, May 3, as 46 students from Texas State Technical College's Marshall location became graduates. Each one received either their certificate of completion or their Associate of Applied Science degree.

"I look forward to seeing you become the best in your chosen career fields," Bart Day, TSTC's Marshall provost, said to the graduates.

Siblings Kiley and Trey Conley, of Hallsville, both crossed the stage as TSTC Board of Regents honor graduates. Trey Conley was given both his certificate of completion in Diesel Equipment Technology and a position with Bagley Tractor and Equipment in Longview.

"I really enjoyed coming here," Trey Conley said about TSTC. "It got me a really good job right after graduating."

Automation and Controls Technology graduate Blake Edwards, of Gladewater, received his Associate of Applied Science degree. He said he plans to attend the University of Texas at Tyler for his bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology.

Edwards had a special message for his daughter, Ema, who attended the ceremony.

"I wouldn't be here if not for Ema," he said. "I would like to thank her very much. She's my number one and the reason for everything I do. I'm succeeding for her."

Kaden McFaul, of Longview, was rewarded with his third certificate of completion in the Welding Technology program. Though grateful for his education, he said his favorite thing about TSTC was the time that he got to spend with his friends.

"It makes it that much better," McFaul said.

Registration for TSTC's fall semester is underway. For more information, go to tstc.edu.
