Mersin star Yalcin gets her reward with Turkey call-up

ISTANBUL (FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers) - In-form Asena Yalcin has been rewarded for her stellar work at Mersin with a call up from Turkey for their FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers.

The guard is the only new face as play-caller Ekrem Memnun goes with the same 15 that were named for last November's opening window - plus the addition of Yalcin.

Mersin are currently attempting to make it to the Quarter-Finals of EuroCup Women, as well as riding high near the top of the Turkish League. Much of their best work has been founded on the guard play of Yalcin, who will add some extra competition for backcourt spaces.

Turkey are 2-0 and looking comfortable after easing to big wins against Estonia and Poland, but will now face their toughest test when they head to Belarus.

Much onus will be on the naturalized Quanitra Hollingsworth to carry the all-important fight in the paint, while Tilbe Senyurek may get to battle under the basket against her Fenerbahce colleague, Anastasiya Verameyeka.
