Christmas is fast approaching. As a part of this Christmas Season, most of us will venture out into the various shopping establishments to purchase gifts for those who have been good this year. Before you go, please perform the following to avoid becoming a crime victim:
If you can, shop in a group. There is truth to the old saying, 'there is safety in numbers.'
If you have to shop at night, always try to park as close to the doors as possible and near a light source.
If you are making several stops during your shopping spree, always place your purchases in the trunk of the car so that an individual (thief) who is shopping in the parking lot will not alert to gifts that are lying on your back seat.
When you travel in your vehicle, always lock your doors to prevent any unauthorized entries.
Whether you are shopping during the day or night, always be cognizant of your surroundings going to and from your vehicle. A criminal will be less likely to prey on you if you look like you are alert and watching your environment.
