FREEDOM TO PALESTINIAN CHILDREN FROM ISRAELI PRISONS

The Federation οf Women of Greece (OGE) joins the World Federation of Trade Unions (PSO-WFTU) initiative and demands the immediate release of more than 155 children who are detained, intimidated and abused in prisons of the occupied forces by the terrorist state of Israel.

OGE has always supported the just struggle of the Palestinian people, stands by its heroic women and children for the recognition of an independent Palestinian state with the people in power and East Jerusalem as its capital.

We will not stop demanding the release of the 4500 political prisoners, including women, elderly, sick and disabled people, even children aged 6-7 who are interrogated and tortured.

500 - 700 Palestinian children are brought in front of Israeli courts every year. The children are violently arrested, are interrogated for weeks, are put in solitary confinement, are asked to sign documents in Hebrew which they do not understand, are not allowed to see their parents, who often lose track of them because they are taken from prison to prison.

We share in grief the mental and physical conditions of these children in the Israeli galleys, even when they are released from prison.

We denounce the murderous state of Israel which, supported by USA/NATO/EU, blatantly violates the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilians in Time of War and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children which provides for special protection measures for children who are under arrest. Israel is the only country to prosecute children in military courts.

We express our full solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners and participate with all our powers in the WFTU Campaign, demanding their immediate release and, first of all, of the children.

We will not stop the struggle until the Israeli occupation ends, the creation of an independent Palestinian state with the people in power, on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital, the political prisoners are released, the refugees return to their homes and the settlements stop.
