Writers series hosting award-winning poets Kathy Fagan, Rebecca Aronson
Northwest Missouri State University's Department of Language, Literature and Writing will host authors Kathy Fagan and Rebecca Aronson during its next installment of the 2017-18 Visiting Writers Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Living Room.
The event is free and open to the public. Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corporation, Green Tower Press, and the Department of Language, Literature and Writing are sponsors of the series.
Kathy Fagan was named Ohio Poet of the Year for 2017 and is the recipient of awards and fellowships from the Ingram Merrill Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, The Frost Place, Ohioana, Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Ohio Arts Council. Her work is widely anthologized and has appeared in The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review, Slate, FIELD, Narrative, The New Republic, The Nation, and Poetry, among other literary magazines.
She is director of creative writing and the Master of Fine Arts program at The Ohio State University, where she is a professor of English, poetry editor of OSU Press and an advisor to The Journal.
Rebecca Aronson won the 2016 Orison Books poetry prize for 'Ghost Child of the Atalanta Bloom,' and the Main-Traveled Roads press poetry prize for 'Creature, Creature.'
She currently writes and teaches in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is a former editor of The Laurel Review and faculty member at Northwest.
The Visiting Writers Series is designed to promote creativity, diversity, and freedom of expression as a living and meaningful art form that provides its audience with a better understanding of people and the world.
The series will conclude with Peter Conners, a publisher and writer of nonfiction and poetry, on April 5.
